On May 8, 2025, a three-judge federal court in Birmingham, Alabama issued a permanent injunction against the state of Alabama, thereby barring it from implementing a racially discriminatory 2023 congressional redistricting plan. Alabama has a long, ugly, and well-documented record of discriminating against its Black citizens in every aspect of life, from the "cradle to the grave."
