Lynching Victims: Unequal in Death
The United States government has never compensated the families of black lynching victims. The opposite is true for at least eleven white Italian-Americans who were lynched in 1891 in New Orleans. As the New Orleans lynchings have shown us, the disparate treatment of African-Americans occurs -- even in vigilante death cases.
